Join the Sequim Bike Studio for a six-day guided bikepacking adventure between Port Angeles, Victoria, and Bamfield, complete with full shuttle transport to and from Port Renfrew…
The 2026 Albernie Gravel Adventure unfolds across the dramatic terrain of Vancouver Island’s west coast, where riders weave through towering coastal rainforests, skirt the edges of glassy mountain lakes, and climb into high‑elevation viewpoints overlooking the Alberni Valley. The landscape is a mix of fast, flowing gravel, rugged forest service roads, and quiet backcountry corridors that feel far removed from the everyday. Misty mornings, dense cedar groves, and long stretches of untouched wilderness give the route its signature sense of immersion and scale. Route is similar to Alberni Bam Bam.
The trip kicks off on Sunday, May 31, with a full prep day at Sequim Bike Studio dedicated to gear checks, bike inspections, rider meet‑ups, and a route and safety briefing before an early night. Last minute gear purchases can be made here if needed. On Monday, June 1, riders take the early morning ferry to Victoria, drive to Port Renfrew by midday for lunch and a grocery stop, then begin the adventure with a late‑day 23‑mile warm‑up ride to McClure Lake. The week then settles into a steady rhythm of big backcountry days: Tuesday, June 2 brings a 50‑mile ride to Pachena Lake with a resupply in Malachan; Wednesday, June 3 covers 52 miles plus a four‑hour ferry from Bamfield to Alberni before camping at Englishman River Falls; and Thursday, June 4 is a remote 52‑mile push to Little Shaw, the only day without food access. On Friday, June 5, riders enjoy a shorter 36‑mile day with a grocery stop in Honeymoon Bay before camping at Gordon Bay Provincial Park. The trip wraps on Saturday, June 6 with an optional 31‑mile morning ride back toward Port Renfrew, followed by the return drive to Victoria, buffer time for customs, and the ferry home to Port Angeles for a final meal and debrief.
The trip package includes six days of professional guiding, all ferry tickets between Port Angeles, Victoria, and Bamfield, full shuttle transport to and from Port Renfrew, reserved campsites for all five nights, daily briefings, navigation and mechanical support, detailed GPX files, and comprehensive safety planning throughout the week. Riders are responsible for bringing their own gravel or mountain bike with a full bikepacking setup, all personal gear, and all food for the duration of the trip, using daily route stops for resupply. Participants must also provide a valid passport or Enhanced/REAL ID for border crossing, along with the most important ingredient—a ready‑to‑ride attitude.
