12 states, 3,500 miles, self-supported, mixed terrain, from Portland, Oregon to Washington, DC…
What: Bike Nonstop US
Where: Portland, Oregon to Washington D.C.
When: June 18th, 2023 at 6AM
Why: A mellow alternative to the Trans Am Bike Race
How: Briskly via bicycle
Who: Those who want to cross the US on “modern” infrastructure options
Bike Nonstop US was created as a lower traffic alternative to the Trans Am Bike Race. The route was designed from the ground up to use existing cycling infrastructure and a connection of minor roads when possible. Every year the route is adapted to incorporate new infrastructure and the aim is to keep it fluent as time progresses.
This is a mixed terrain event. While not exact, roughly 20% of the route is on trail or “gravel”, quality of which is all dependent on precipitation. Strong, smooth tread tires at 35-40mm are recommended, bigger or smaller at your own risk/preference.
