The Fitz-Barn is a 440 mile, point to point backcountry gravel road route through the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem and Rocky Mountains of Idaho and Southwest Montana connecting Fitzgerald’s Bicycles in Victor, ID to Red Barn Bicycles in Hamilton, MT. Roughly 200 miles of the Fitz-Barn shares the Great Divide Mountain Bike Route. Each year it alternates directions.

The route covers deep coniferous forests growing up from the Yellowstone Caldera, climbs high into burn areas of the Beaverhead Mountains, parallels the Continental Divide of the Montana/Idaho border, runs along the entirety of the Teton Range, through the Big Hole Valley and historic roads such as the Big Sheep Creek Backcountry Byway.

This is entirely a self-supported bikepacking event—no SAG or support along the route. This isn’t a race and riders can take as many days as they’d like. However, most aim to finish in 3 to 4 days and some choose to ride it at a “Tour Divide pace”. The FKT is 1 day, 22 hours and 23 minutes set by Jay Petervary.

All participants must have a SPOT Tracker or similar device. They can be rented from TrackLeaders. Join us on August 7th, 2020 for a northbound adventure of a lifetime!
