The GranGuanche Audax Gravel is an 800-kilometer self-supported bikepacking event across the Canary Islands. A ride to the next ferry through the ever-changing landscapes of this unique archipelago.
The GranGuanche follow the classic rules of ultra-cycling races. But in the spirit of Audax, participants are allowed to ride in groups and draft one another.
Lanzarote, Fuerteventura, Gran Canaria, Tenerife and El Hierro, the route connects five islands with four ferries, featuring epic sea-to-summit climbs through some of the most diverse landscapes and climates—from sunny beaches to snowy peaks, across sandy deserts, lava fields, tropical canyons, misty pine woods, and lush rainforests. The route mainly follows fast double tracks and secondary roads. It’s ideally ridden on gravel bikes with low gearing and minimum 45mm wide tyres.
The Audax pace is the challenge of connecting all the scheduled ferries in a non-stop effort. It’s achievable only by ultra-distance cyclists, and the entry fee will be fully refunded to every rider fast enough to make it.
The Audax is limited to 100 participants, but even if you can’t join the Audax, you can ride the route anytime—download the tracks and find all the information on our website – follow us on Instagram @granguanche.route for updates on our routes and events!
