The Great British Divide is an unsupported bikepacking event from one end of Great Britain to the other…
The Great British Divide is a self-supported ultra-distance bikepacking adventure ride. It is 65-70% off road and requires a mountain bike or ‘monster cross’ style bike to complete.
The Full Route adventure starts on Saturday 10th August 2024 at 09:00am at a location TBC near Canterbury, Kent and the Short(er) Route on Monday 12th August at 12:00noon at The Old Station Hub, Talybont-on-Usk.
Newly introduced for 2024 is a Pairs Category for both the Full and Short(er) routes. Over the last few years we have seen various riders connecting on the route and unofficially becoming a pair but have now formalised this element of the event to create a dedicated Pairs option that distinguishes between the Solo and Pairs performances.
Pairs will be required to carry a Tracker each and will be listed as a Pair on our live tracking. Pairs will be able to share equipment. A Pair will be counted as a ‘whole’ rider – if one half of a Pair scratches, the whole Pair scratches, if one half of a Pair contravenes a rule, the whole Pair contravenes a rule and so on.
The end of the event and the finish is at the Nevis Range, Fort William in the Highlands of Scotland which closes on Sunday 25th August at 09:00.
The Full Route has a maximum completion deadline of 15 Days and the Shorter Route 12.5 Days to be included in the final finisher’s statistics. You may of course complete the route after this time but the GBD Team will not be present at the finish after it closes and you will not record an official time. Furthermore, the live tracking will cease to function after the official end time.
