The Karoo Dash is a 1000km adventure cycling race between Bloemfontein and Cape Town, South Africa.
The Karoo Dash is approximately 1000 kilometers in length and is a self supported adventure cycle race. In 2018 the race starts on the 24th of June and the riders have 8 days to complete the race. Race briefing will be held at the start on the evening of the 23rd of June 2018. The Karoo Dash will start in Bloemfontein and finish at Eden on the Bay in Blouberg Cape Town. The entry fee is R5000.00 per rider for 2018. The race fee includes accommodation at the start on a sharing basis. Dinner on the 23rd of June and a breakfast basket on the 24th of June. Race garment. The addition of the Karoo Dash Dash is to allow riders to race between two great cities in a shorter format, and to assist riders who want to ride our longer races but are not sure if they can manage the distances or the adventure. Riders must comply and agree to the race rules, no outside assistance is permitted and resupply can only be by commercial means. This in basic terms means that you cannot uses any assistance or resupply that is not available to all riders. This ensures a level playing field. Riders are self-sufficient and are responsible for their own food and accommodation requirements. The race office and Joint Operations Centre is mobile during the whole race. All riders have to ensure that they have the technology and means to charge their phones at all times. Tracking will be via the riders mobile phone and the rider must track at all times.
Riders are supplied with a suggested route to ride in the form of GPX tracks. Compulsory checkpoints and cut offs will apply to the riders.
