An Inspired Adventurist Event: Back for the third fall epic! Last year saw a group of 15 come out to capture a little adventure virtually from their backdoor. We ride out again this fall in an embrace of the season, and to practice being tougher than perfect weather. The goal, in part, is to create space and time for folks to dip a fishing line. The route leaves 1-1.5hrs in both the morning and evenings to fish. Fishing is entirely optional. If you just want to come ride, you’ll be in great company!

The ride is casually paced with ample time for chatting and snacking. No doubt you’ll need some fitness and skills to tackle the primary mtn bike route. It is not, however, designed to be a crusher. We’ll regroup often. That said, everyone should have the route downloaded to some navigation device or have maps, and be able to hold a solid pace over difficult terrain.

There are options and workarounds for almost every part of the route that are road, gravel or just a drive in to hang-out. If you’ve got the wrong bike, don’t worry, there’s the right route for you!

To help manage ride support and attendance, this year’s registration will be handled over on Bikereg. There’s a $15/day fee added to cover some group supplies, and have emergency support available should someone have a major mechanical or injury. There may also be a few “Special Deliveries” to our campsites. The event is primarily self-supported. Bring ample in ride food, and be prepared to purchase dinner and some extra food on route. If the cost is an issue, or you’ve done any bikepacking with me or attended any of my bikepacking seminars, drop me a line for a discount code.

The route is all local to the Connecticut Farmington Valley. The main group will follow a mtn bike trail specific route cobbled together thanks to some great folks that really know CT trails and have shown me the way. As such, the routes are not mine, and open to suggestion. Let me know if you’ve got an idea for a great cut through or side trail that’s missing.

Go on over to Bikereg (https://www.bikereg.com/rad-rod-ride-frosty-toes) to register, full information regarding the route, timelines, and links to bike/gear recommendations (https://qrgo.page.link/UZfmF).
