Rebel Ride South 2025

After three successful years in the North Island, the Rebel Ride, New Zealand’s women’s bikepacking adventure, is heading south for the first time.
The new Rebel Ride South is a 300km loop track starting and finishing in Cromwell, Otago, New Zealand. The ride invites women to experience the region’s stunning landscapes, trails, and renowned southern hospitality by bike.
Founded in 2022 by biking enthusiast Katie McLennan, The Rebel Ride has quickly become a welcoming entry point into bikepacking for women in New Zealand, bridging the gap between day rides and bigger expeditions like Tour Aotearoa. Unlike competitive endurance events, the Rebel Ride encourages riders to choose their own pace and start day, finishing together on Sunday 7 December 2025.
The Central Otago edition will follow a route designed to highlight the region’s spectacular vistas, quiet backcountry roads, and world-class cycle trails such as the Lake Dunstan Trail. Riders will also see off-the-track locations such as Bannockburn, Butchers Dam, Raggedy Range, Oteake Conservation Park and St Bathans.
