Salt and Lake Trail 2026

The Austrian Salt and Lake Trail is an unsupported 480km (short option 280km) bikepacking adventure through the stunning area of the Salzkammergut, Salzburg and boarder area of Bavaria.

An incredible journey from Bad Ischl as start and finish line in a round, passing through many well-known villages such Hallstatt, Salzburg, Berchtesgaden – famous old towns with Salt history, on roads perfect for Gravel or MTB through forests, passes, along numerous lakes and with beautiful views to famous mountains.

The Salt and Lake Trail fits to sporty bikers but with an official time limit of 6 days all can make it and enjoy visiting the cities, make breaks at the lakes or along the numerous spots of good food. It’s not a race, it to marvel, see and enjoy.
