Put on by Brother Cycles, The Big ‘Un is a weekend-long event featuring a one-day gravel ride that starts and finishes at Brother Cycles headquarters in Kent, United Kingdom…
A challenging one-day gravel ride starting and finishing at Brother HQ – with coffee at the start, food and drinks at the finish and a place to camp-out for the weekend. The original route is 115km with an even bigger route of over 140km for those that feel up to it!
New for 2024: After the brutal conditions at last year’s event (if you were there, you know!) we’ve decided to host the event earlier in the year – early September will give everyone more daylight to enjoy the route and (hopefully) warmer and drier conditions. As well as this, we’re making the following changes for 2024:
– We’re encouraging guests to come down on the Friday night and make a weekend of it – we’ll be serving some drinks in the tractor barn and screening some inspirational adventure cycling films to kick things off
– The main Saturday Big ‘Un route will be new and improved
– Riders will be treated to a mid-route party pit stop!
– We’ll organise an informal cool-down ride to the beach on Sunday
The route, created through many hours of lockdown exploring, will lead you up and over the stunning North Downs as you’re treated to some of the areas finest bridleways, byways, forest tracks and country lanes. This will be a challenging one day ride so don’t underestimate it, especially if the weather’s been bad! However, it’s well worth the effort as you get to enjoy some of our favourite local trails and some well earned coffee, food and pub stops along the way.
