The latest Jamis Komodo has been completely revamped with a longer 140mm travel fork, clearance for 29 x 2.6″ tires, and geometry updates that suit aggressive, all-mountain riding. The 2021 Jamis Dragon, which is replacing the Dragonfly and Dragonslayer, offers a similar package but is based around a Reynolds Steel frame. Learn more here…

The 2021 Jamis Komodo and Jamis Dragon (which appears to be replacing the Dragonslayer and Dragonfly) have been overhauled for 2021. Both see updated geometry, new build kits, and more a more aggressive overall package that strays further from their original designs. Learn about both below, including their complete build kits.

2021 Jamis Komodo

The Jamis Komodo, a longtime offering in the brand’s lineup, has always existed as an aggressive hardtail mountain bike. Although its seen some updates over the years, it has stayed true to its all-mountain, rowdy nature, and the latest iteration is no different. The 2021 Jamis Komodo offers even more with the jump up to a 140mm travel fork, clearance for 29 x 2.6″ tires, as well as a dedicated 29″ platform and tweaked geometry. The Komodo now has a slack 65° head tube angle and a super steep 76° seat tube angle.

The Komodo is offered in one value-packed build that is based around a 6061 aluminum frame and thru-axle hub spacing. Although it doesn’t offer the versatility of adjustable dropouts or extra mounting points, the 2021 build features a Shimano Deore 1×12 drivetrain, chunky all-mountain 29″ tires, a selection of Race Face components, and four-piston hydraulic brakes. It appears to be pretty well specced in all the right places, too. Check out the full build kit below.

2021 Jamis Dragon

Perhaps the most interesting news is the new Jamis Dragon, which is replacing the more bikepacking-friendly Dragonslayer and Dragonfly. The Dragon now exists as an aggressive hardtail, sharing many similarities to the Komodo, veering away from the versatility that the previous models were known for. Instead, the Dragon has a rowdy 65° head tube angle, 76° seat tube angle, and 435mm chainstays that definitely looks better suited for technical, steep descents than those on its predecessor.

Unfortunately, the new Dragon loses nearly all of its mounting options, sporting just a single bottle cage within the main triangle, and that’s it! It’s based around 29 x 2.5″/2.4″ tires, a Shimano SLX 12-Speed drivetrain, and an internally routed dropper post. See the full build kit below.
