2021 Kona Rove Steel Models

To stagger things a little, here’s the last of the three Kona ranges released yesterday. Alongside the new Units and Sutras, the 2021 Kona Rove lineup received fresh paint and new build kits. While the Sutra LTD and Sutra ULTD are Kona’s off-road oriented drop-bar rigs, the Roves are positioned as all-road or “road less travelled” bikes. The Rove has been in Kona’s bike lineup since 2013, but was reinvented with the introduction of an aluminum model, carbon forks, and 650B “road plus” tires in 2018. For 2021, the range includes five models with three nicely appointed steel builds, two aluminum models, 650b and 700c wheels, and both 1x and 2x drivetrains. The two we found most interesting are the high-end steel 2021 Kona Rove LTD and Rove DL. Find the all the nitty gritty below…

2021 Kona Rove LTD

The 2021 Kona Rove LTD has a Butted Cromoly frame finished in a “Gloss Metallic Pinot Noir” paint job. The frame features a tapered headtube, three bottle mounts on the triangle, and rear rack mounts. The LTD is the only 2021 Rove that gets the Rove Verso Full Carbon flat mount disc fork, complete with rack mounts, a three-pack of bottle mounts on each blade, and a threaded fender mount on the crown.

The 2021 Kona Rove LTD is built up with a Shimano GRX 810 2×11 drivetrain which provides a nice range and about 23.5 gear inches for a granny/climbing gear. The LTD is shod with WTB Venture TCS 650x47c tires mounted to KOM Light Team i23 TCS rims. Here’s the full build kit.

2021 Kona Rove DL

The Rove DL (formerly called the Rove ST) is our favorite of the bunch. Built around a handsome “Matte Faux Raw” Kona Butted Cromoly frame and Project Two Cromoly Disc fork, the DL model gets a reliable SRAM Rival 1×11 drivetrain and TRP Spyre C brakes.
