The new Tumbleweed Prospector frame opens up for preorder this morning, and they’re going to move fast! Learn what’s new and how to get your hands on of these sought-after expedition touring frames here…

Although not much has changed for 2021, the Tumbleweed Prospector remains one of the most expedition-ready bikepacking frames available. It may not be the lightest touring bike out there, but it’s rugged and incredibly versatile, and was the top choice from the Bikepacking Collective members from our 2019 Bikepacking Awards. Preorders open today (9:00 A.M. PST) for the next generation of Prospector frames, and they are expected to sell out fast. You’ll want to hurry if you’re considering one, as Tumbleweed isn’t expecting more frames until late summer 2021.

The frames will now feature internal dropper post routing and tweaked tire clearance to fit 27.5 x 4.0” tires better. There are still two fork options, a 135mm quick release with rear disc spacing (for super tough wheels with wide symmetrical hub flanges) and a 110x15mm thru axle fork for easy suspension fork swapping. The next batch of frames is available in Desert Sage and Midnight Blue and is expected to arrive mid-November.

Pricing remains the same as when the Prospector was first introduced a few years ago, coming in at $1,450 for the frame, fork, and Phil Wood eccentric bottom bracket insert. Tumbleweed’s Mini Pannier and T-Racks are also arriving with this shipment, along with more Persuader bars.

The presale for everything in this shipment is live at Tumbleweed.cc today, October 26th, at 9 A.M. PST.

Be sure to check out Logan’s review of the previous Tumbleweed Prospector, most of which will apply to the latest version.
