One of TarpTent’s lightest two-person tents, the Double Rainbow Li, was recently updated with a more durable floor, shorter pole segments, and an improved tensioning system. Find everything you need to know about the 2025 TarpTent Double Rainbow Li here…
Originally released in 2020 as part of Tarptent’s growing Dyneema-constructed Lithium lineup, the Double Rainbow Li is an ultralight version of the brand’s best-selling Double Rainbow tent. It took a top spot in our 2021 Gear of the Year awards because of its impressively lightweight construction and roomy design. Tarptent quietly announced an updated version for 2025, and while the overall structure has remained relatively unchanged, there are a few noteworthy tweaks.
Like the previous versions, the 2025 TarpTent Double Rainbow Li uses a single carbon Easton arch pole and six stakes to set up, but it can also use optional straight poles or hiking poles to be completely freestanding. The tent features a 5″ tall bathtub floor, bug protection, two 24″ (61cm) deep vestibules, and YKK Aquaguard zippers on both doors. It comes fully seam-taped and has an optional condensation liner for camping in wintery or humid environments. Tall folks will be happy to hear it has a 88″ (224cm) floor length that comfortably fits users up to 6’4″ (193cm) or even taller for solo users who sleep on an angle.
Updates include a new 15-Denier quad-ripstop Nylon 6.6 floor fabric, updated from the previous 20D Nylon 6 Double Ripstop. The 2025 Double Rainbow Li has a redesigned pole set that packs down to 16″ (41cm), compared to ~17.25″ previously, and the floor now features a corner tension system more in line with Tarptent’s other tents. It also tensions a bit better, especially when staking close to the corner to get a low fly edge.
The Double Rainbow Li is made in China and weighs 866 grams (30.55 ounces) with all poles, stakes, struts, guy lines, and bags. It starts at $679 USD and is available now from Tarptent.com.
