The newly updated Shand Stramash clears 700 x 50mm tires and has loads of mounting points, and each frame is hand-fabricated, painted, and assembled in the UK. Take a closer look here…
According to the UK’s Shand Cycles, Stramash means a “racket” or “disturbance” to the Scots, which seems fitting for a big-tire gravel bike packed with exciting features. The latest Shand Stramash is technically a relaunch, bringing a number of changes. At its core, the Stramash is a UK-made steel gravel bike with clearance for 700 x 50mm tires, plenty of mounting points, and, as Shand puts it, it’s “something truly unique and for riders who demand maximum versatility and all-terrain performance.”
The new Shand Stramash is built from Columbus Life steel tubing and comes with a matching Shand Carbon Fork. It features new stainless steel dropouts made in-house, which are apparently the only dropouts available that are fully compatible with UDH derailleur drivetrains, belt drive systems, and Rohloff Speedhubs. The Stramash has a multi-fit bottom bracket that allows users to run both T47-threaded BBs and eccentric bottom brackets, providing compatibility with Rohloff/Gates Carbon Drive setups or traditional drivetrains. There are mounts galore, including top tube bosses, downtube mounts, three-pack fork mounts, rack and fender mounts, and more.
The Stramash’s geometry has also been updated to make it more comfortable on rugged off-road terrain. There are four stock sizes, and Shand also offers custom geo for an additional £500. Each size has a 70.5° head tube angle (70° on XL), 73.5°/74° seat tube angle, a generous 75mm bottom bracket drop, and 435mm chainstays.
