Back in 2019, fan-favorite rider Alexandera Houchin pedaled the Tour Divide route for the fourth time and set the women’s singlespeed record in the process, completing it in 18 days, 20 hours, and 26 minutes (18:20:26) and breaking the previous record by a full day. Early this morning at 1:26 a.m. local time, she rolled in to Antelope Wells and bested her 2019 record by exactly two hours, finishing the race in 18 days, 18 hours, and 26 minutes (18d:18h:26m) and setting a new women’s singlespeed record.

Although just a two hour difference, this is still an amazing accomplishment, and it will certainly be challenging for other riders to beat. When Alexandera broke the previous women’s singlespeed record in 2019, she did so by a full day, and that was a record that stood for four years. It was previously held by Alice Drobna, who posted a time of 19 days, 22 hours, and 4 minutes (19:22:04) back in 2015.

Alexandera rode a titanium Chumba Yaupon set up with a 34 x 17t gear combination this year. For those crunching numbers, that gearing added about three gear inches to her 36 x 19t 2019 setup (58.38 vs. 55.31). She mentioned suffering on this stout gear early on in the race as she tackled the steep sections in Montana and Wyoming. However, she settled into it and eventually passed her record pace and stayed ahead of it for the second half of the race.

Congrats on another inspiring ride and another amazing accomplishment, Alexandera! Be sure to dig into some related posts and stories from Alexandera in the Further Reading grid below.
