Following up on their well-loved Diamond front rack, Allygn in Berlin has introduced a compact rear counterpart designed for lightweight bikepacking and modular setups. The Allygn Diamond Back Rack is lightweight and still offers features like internal light routing and plenty of accessory mounts, including their Anybolt Kit. Read on for details…

Made to complement their front-mounted Diamond Rack—which both Lucas and I have put a ton of miles on at this point—the recently released ALLYGN Diamond Back Rack is built for the back of the bike and comes with a few interesting features. We teased it back in January but wanted to put together a slightly more detailed dispatch.

The Diamond Back Rack is a compact, adaptable rear carrier designed for lighter bikepacking loads like tents, dry bags, and sleep systems, or for use as a bag support. Built from thin-wall 25CrMo4 steel tubing, with aluminum stays and stainless hardware, it offers a fairly lightweight platform that can be mounted to a wide range of bikes via multiple mounting configurations.

Measuring 285mm in length (245mm usable) and 140mm at its widest point, the rack supports loads up to 7 kilograms (15.5 pounds). The platform itself weighs just 235 grams, and the full system tips the scales at just over 500 grams, even with uncut stays and all the included mounting hardware.

Specs from Allygn:

  • Rack made from thin-wall 10 x 0,8mm 25CrMo4 tubing
  • All bolts and hardware made from black-plated, rust-free stainless steel
  • Aluminum rack stays
  • 6 × M5 underside accessory mounts
  • Optional cage and light mounts
  • Internal light cable routing
  • Maximum load: 7 kg
  • Weight: Rack platform: 235 grams; All stays (uncut): 195 grams; Basic Mounting hardware: 75 grams; Anybolt kit (optional): 80 grams; Taillight mounting kit (optional): 15 grams

The Allygn Diamond Back Rack is designed to be flexible for different setups. It has internal cable routing for a taillight and six M5 accessory mounts on its underside that can be used for lights or accessories. Plus, it has built-in compatibility for cage and pannier mounts via the optional Anybolt Kit. You can even pair it with the purpose-made Gramm Back Diamond Bag to achieve a similar packing method and style to a typical seat pack, with more stability and storage space.
