The Ron’s Bikes AluMax II is an update to the small Connecticut brand’s gravel model. Featuring improved tire clearance and some minor hardware tweaks, this new bike fills an interesting niche in the ever-changing gravel space…
The second iteration of Ronnie Romance’s aluminum gravel bike, the AluMax II, is now available for pre-order. Updating a few key areas from the original AluMax, it’s still made in Vermont by Frank the Welder. The AluMax II features 700 x 55mm tire clearance and uses Dedacciai 7005 tubing for the main triangle and Columbus steel for the Taper Trax fork. The bike can also take cantilever or V-brakes, has QR 135 rear spacing and 100 front, and includes a 31.8mm DKG seat collar, brake studs, and derailleur hanger. Though the few existing photos show no mounts, the production forks will have mid-fork blade rack support mounts (but no attachment points for fenders).
Despite not having a fully built-up model for customers to peek at just yet, Ronnie hopes to have a complete one ready to show off by mid-January. The frame comes in five sizes, has an option to powder coat or go raw, and should ship by March of 2026. The frames are currently on pre-order, requiring a 50 percent down payment of $1,100, with the remaining $1,100 due at delivery, for a total of $2,200.
