Do you own a Rivendell Clem Smith Jr. step-thru and have dreams of filling the space above the top tube with a massive frame bag? Well, you’re in luck, because Bags by Bird in Tucson had the same thought and just opened pre-orders for the new Clem Smith Framebag! Learn more here…
After a year of prototyping, Jay Ritchey at Bags by Bird (BXB) finally landed on an unexpected but functional design for a framebag designed specifically for the Rivendell Clem Smith Jr. step-thru frame. Why? Because it’s a silly idea that Jay decided to make a reality nonetheless.
The Bags by Bird Clem Smith Framebag maintains tension using cord that laces through loops on the top of the bag and attaches to the frame and the headset. Like the Better Half and Upper Hand framebags, it has a large flap opening that provides direct access to the top of the bag. There is an internal velcro divider, an internal mesh pocket, and it uses a lace-up bungee attachment around the perimeter.

Jay rides a 64cm Clem, so he already has that template ready to go, but if you ride a 45cm, 52cm, or 59cm, you’ll need to send in a physical template to ensure the fit is perfect. Each bag will be made to order, so you have your choice of fabric type and color. BXB is accepting $100 deposits now, and the final cost of the bag is expected to be $175.
