Bearclaw just added two new bikes to their lineup: a drop bar fat bike called TŌWMAK and HARDTAiL MOUNTAiN BiKE, which is exactly what you’d think. Learn more about both here.
Michigan-based Bearclaw Bicycle Co is it again. This time it’s a new drop bar fat bike called the TŌWMAK and a new mountain bike named… HARDTAiL MOUNTAiN BiKE. We’ve always been fans of Bearclaw’s offerings, their unique bikes push the boundaries of what’s considered normal or popular, and they do so with style. The TŌWMAK and HARDTAiL MOUNTAiN BiKE are certainly no different. Find details on both below.
Bearclaw TOWMAK
The TŌWMAK is a drop bar fat bike. It’s built up around a titanium frame and your choice of a carbon or titanium (coming soon) fork. Unlike other drop bar fat bikes you can find online, the TŌWMAK features true gravel bike geometry, or what they call Ultradistance Gravel Friendly Geometry—the same as the Beaux Jaxon we reviewed two years ago.
- Hubs: 197x12mm (rear), 150x15mm (front)
- Tire Clearance: 27.5 x 4.5″ or 26 x 5″ tires
- Brakes: flat mount
- Bottom Bracket: 100mm BSA Standard Bottom Bracket
- Frame: 3AL-2.5V double-butted titanium frame; 6AL-4V billet head tube, bb, dropouts, derailleur hanger, and chainstay plate
It looks like Bearclaw is planning to offer two complete build options; a Rival 1 Hydraulic for $4,990 USD and a Force/XX1 AXS for $8,490. The frame alone will set you back $2,190, or you can purchase a frame and carbon fork for $2,790 (+$100 for Ti fork). Learn more here.
Bearclaw Hardtail Mountain Bike
The Hardtail Mountain Bike is a titanium hardtail mountain bike and is what founder Chet Bearclaw describes as “the greatest Hardtail Mountain Bike frame ever created,” so it must be pretty good. It’s designed around 29″ or 27.5″ tires, a 120mm travel fork, and can take a rack, three bottles, and an internally routed dropped post. It’s definitely a hardtail mountain bike.
- Hubs: 148x12mm (rear), 110x15mm (front)
- Tire Clearance: 29×2.6″ and 27.5×2.8″ tires
- Head Tube: 44mm Straight
- Bottom Bracket: 73mm Threaded BSA BB
- Frame: 3AL-2.5V double-butted titanium frame; 6AL-4V billet head tube, bb, dropouts, derailleur hanger, and chainstay plate
Right now the Hardtail Mountain Bike is only offered in a single GX Eagle complete build for $4,790 USD. You can also purchase the frame alone for $2090 and as a frameset for $2,590, which includes the RockShox YARI 120 RC and Cane Creek Hellbender Headset. Learn more here.
