We’re happy to unveil Tracker, a new website feature developed for readers to track live race and ride maps and find relevant event coverage—all in one place. Learn more about this and other recent updates here…
Races and organized rides are just one of the many aspects of bikepacking, but that variety is one thing we all love about it. Since launching our bikepacking Events Calendar back in 2016, we’ve been embedding ride and race tracker maps in relevant event listings so people could follow along and dot watch. We’ve also been ramping up coverage of these events with reports and our popular “Rigs of” roundups. In doing so, there have been a ton of requests over the years to make ongoing events easier to find. After a lot of discussion about how to best address this, and to improve and showcase our events coverage, we’re excited to introduce Tracker.
On the homepage, just under Dispatch, you’ll find the Tracker tab that displays the event or events we’re currently covering, as well as the most recent event that may still be on some folks’ radar. These links will each direct readers to the Tracker page.
Each Tracker page contains a paragraph about the event with relevant links, an embedded Trackleaders or ride tracker map, and a timeline of reportage and event coverage relevant to the race or event.
Tracker is one of many website updates we’ve been planning (another of which is our relatively new related posts grid that you can see on many articles) that we hope our readers will enjoy and use. We plan on expanding it further if so, so please let us know what you think in the conversation below. You can check out the first two Trackers covering the 2021 Colorado Trail Race and Lachlan’s Alt Tour.
