Just announced, the new BMC URS AL has (almost) the same mountain bike-inspired geometry as the premium carbon model, but at a much lower price. Find details and more photos here…
BMC just released a new and more affordable iteration of their popular URS (which stands for “unrestricted”) gravel bike. The URS AL features a premium aluminum frame with their “Gravel+ Geometry,” clearance for 700c x 45mm tires, internal cable routing, fender and rack mounts, a PF86 bottom bracket, flat-mount brakes, and thru-axles. There are three models that each come with an URS carbon fork that has internal brake dynamo cable routing, fender mounts, and a pair of cage mounts on each leg.
The URS AL loses the carbon model’s elastomer Micro Travel Technology, which adds a little cush at the rear-end of the bike. However, much of the geometry is the same. The URS AL has a 5mm longer chainstay and slightly longer wheelbase as a result. As shown above, BMC also added an XS size with the URS AL.
The BMC URS AL comes in three models ranging from $2,099 to $2,599. Topping out the lineup, the orange URS AL One features an SRAM Apex 1×11 group and retails for $2,599 (€2,499) with the following build kit:
- CHAINRING: SRAM APEX 1 40T
- CASSETTE: SRAM APEX 11-42T

The blue and black URS AL Two will sell for $2,299 (€2,199) and gets generic alloy wheels and a 1×11 Shimano GRX group with the same gearing as the URS AL One. The gray URS AL Three will go for $2,099 (€1,999) and comes with a 2×10 Shimano GRX drivetrain. It’s unclear when the BMC URS AL will be available, but if you’re interested, check with your local BMC dealer to find out.
