A few days ago, our friends at Original Free Range shared an interesting new product they’re stocking. The Hardside Hydration Swig 63 Hydration Hose Adapter Cap converts Nalgenes and other bottles into a hydration system. Hardside Hydration is a US-based company that specializes in hydration solutions for outdoor enthusiasts, but up until recently, they were mostly targeting hikers and hunters. Arizona-based Original Free Range saw how their products might be applicable for bikepacking and just became an official distributor for Hardline’s products. Read on for details…

The Swig 63 fits most wide-mouth bottles that have a 63mm opening, including Nalgene, Camelback, and Hydraflask. There’s a silicone air valve that allows airflow to relieve the vacuum pressure generated by drinking water, without leaking. The cap has a barb designed to fit a standard hydration hose, allowing for on-the-go hydration from your favorite bottle. The kit doesn’t include a bottle, silicone hose, or bite valve, but if you have a bladder laying around at home, you should be able to use that. Original Free Range is also selling silicone tubing separately, for those who need it.

The cap costs $17.95 USD and is available now from OriginalFreeRange.com.
