Bontrager released two new gravel tire families today, complete with a revised construction, new compounds, fresh tread patterns, and widths up to 50mm. Learn more about the Bontrager Girona and Betasso Gravel Tires and their new high-flow valve adapter here…

Today, Bontrager is expanding their tire lineup with two entirely new models: the Girona and Betasso. Both tire families feature a new tread design and updated specs compared to their current gravel tires, which they claim to improve overall strength and puncture protection.

The new tires are split into two construction types: GR and GX. GR is a fast-rolling construction with square woven nylon bead-to-bead puncture protection. GX is the tougher of the two, with the benefit of an additional sub-tread puncture protection layer. Within each tire family, there are four levels: COMP (entry-level), ELITE (good), PRO (better), and RSL (best). These changes will also be transferred over to the rest of their tire line-ups (MTB and road) for consistency.

Bontrager Girona

The Bontrager Girona is an all-round gravel tire for speed and traction on hardpacked/mixed surfaces. It replaces the GR1 tire, comes with either a 60TPI (PRO) or 220TPI (RSL) casing, and has a fast-rolling center tread with medium side knobs. The Girona is tubeless-ready and comes in 35, 38, and 42mm widths. The Girona PRO costs $49.99 and the RSL costs $69.99 USD. Check it out here.

Bontrager Betasso

The Bontrager Betasso is an aggressive gravel tire for grip in loose conditions. It replaces the GR2 with a 60TPI (RSL) casing, bead-to-bead sub-tread puncture protection, a fast-rolling center tread, and medium side knobs. It comes in 42, 45, and 50mm widths. The Betasso tires have the same MSRP as the Girona at $69.99 for the RSL version. Learn more here.

Bontrager High Flow Valve Adapter

Released alongside their new gravel tires is a nifty little valve adapter that Bontrager claims to increase airflow by 300%, effectively simplifying tubeless setups and reducing clogging. The High Flow Valve Adapter replaces your standard valve core and has an integrated core remover, and while we’re not sure exactly how it works, it’s safe to say it has a larger interior bore diameter for improved airflow. It costs $24.99 USD and is available now from TrekBikes.com.
