Just announced, Bontrager’s new Rally clipless mountain bike shoe claims to be durable enough for the most aggressive of riders and perfect for rowdy singletrack descents. Check out all the details here…
Although the new Bontrager Rally mountain bike shoe doesn’t feature aggressive tread and sophisticated closure technology, it does appear to be based around a durable design. Hopefully, that carries over to the demands of singletrack-heavy bikepacking or riders who mix it up on downhill and enduro style trails.
Bontrager claims the Rally’s synthetic leather upper provides “all-day durability and comfort,” while the reinforced toe box offers additional protection in harsh terrain. An abrasion resistant coating, something Bontrager calls GnarGuard, is applied to the heel and toe cap, helping prolong the lifespan of the shoe. A simple lace closure and an oversized velcro strap keep your feet in place, and the EVA midsole is made to cushion bumps and hits. Although the tread doesn’t appear to be most grippy for those inevitable bikepacking hike-a-bikes, if they are as durable as Bontrager claims, the Rally shoe might be a good option for some folks.
The Bontrager Rally shoe is available in sizes 36 to 48, and three colors; black, nautical navy, and olive grey. They are priced at $148 USD, and available now on TrekBikes.com.
