Boru McCullagh set off on a ride around the world in late August of 2022 from his home near the Herne Hill Velodrome in London. Initially intent on completing the ride in just eight months, Boru has found both the desire and ability to take a much more relaxed pace as he utilizes the bike and his journey around the world to confront mental health struggles and conceptions of identity. While Boru and filmmaker Finley Newmark have made two excellent feature-length films in Boru’s time on the road, they often use the All Roads Considered YouTube channel to post more vlog-style videos between film drops.

The most recent upload takes an in-depth look at Boru McCullagh’s world-touring Specialized Diverge STR and the equipment used on the current iteration of his globe-spanning ride. Boru and Finley’s films have played an integral part in my desire to go out and do something I thought was impossible, and it’s always fun to keep up with Boru’s travels via Instagram and the YouTube channel. Though his ride around the world is nearly complete, I’d venture to say there’s plenty more content to come as Boru enters the final stages of his life-changing journey.
