Featuring 20-inch wheels and the lofty tagline “the most versatile bike in the world,” the new Brompton G Line is the much-loved British brand’s first model designed to handle all-terrain riding and feel like a full-sized bike. Take a closer look here…
Unveiled yesterday, the latest quirky folding bike to make waves in the bicycle travel world is the Brompton G Line. It boasts all-new geometry, tubeless-ready 20” wheels with custom-specced Schwalbe tires, hydraulic disc brakes, and an internally geared eight-speed drivetrain. In short, it looks like a serious bike for all-road adventures rather than something quaint you might ride a few blocks from the train to the office.
Introducing the new model, Brompton wrote, “Everything is thoughtfully engineered to give the balanced feel of a full-size bike and all-day comfort that’s nothing short of joyous,” all while maintaining the convenience and versatility of its signature folding design that transforms it into a compact package for transit or storage. The new G Line was tested throughout more than 250,000 kilometers of riding along everything from rugged singletrack to slick cobblestones, and it promises to be a one-bike solution for the city and beyond.
In signature Brompton style, the G Line can fold and unfold in under 20 seconds. In size small, it measures just 690mm high x 730mm long x 402mm wide (27” x 28.7” x 15.8”) when folded. It can also be half-folded to steer with the saddle or handlebar, gliding like a suitcase. The Brompton G Line will be available in three colors (Forest Green, Adventure Orange, Traildust White) and three sizes (small, medium, and large) to fit riders from 152 to 198cm (5’0” to 6’6”). A size small weighs 13.9 kilograms (30.6 pounds).
Bikes are expected to be available next month, and pricing starts at £2,399 ($3,175) for a complete G Line. Brompton also announced the Electric G Line yesterday, which features a 250-watt rear hub motor and starts at £3,499 ($4,625). You can find complete details on both over at Brompton.com.
