James Stannard just set a new record for the fastest known time on the iconic Land’s End to John o’Groats on a Brompton! Find details and photos here…

On Sunday morning at 1:00 a.m., James Stannard set off to ride from Lands End to John o’Groats on the iconic “LEJOG” route which runs 879 miles (1,415km) covering the entire length of the UK. James arrived in John o’Groats midday yesterday to set a new fastest known time—EDIT: unsupported on a Brompton—on the legendary ride with a time of 83 hours, which in itself is impressive. Even more astounding is the fact that he completed it aboard a Brompton folding bike with 16″ wheels! James beat the previous record of 5 days and 15 hours by over two days!

Here are a few photos provided courtesy of James via Restrap and Albion, two of James’ sponsors.

James works at Brompton heading up research and insight, and wanted to take on the challenge in part to highlight the versatility of Brompton bikes, and to raise awareness of what they are capable of. James rode a Brompton four-speed P-line modified with a front derailleur and Shimano Ultegra 52/36 chainset, Schwalbe One tires, and mini aero bars.
