The Cane Creek chainrings are a new offering from the North Carolina-based company that promises a universal profile, SRAM and Shimano drivetrain compatibility, and multiple tooth and offset sizes. Read on for more on this new component…
The new Cane Creek chainrings mark the first time the company has endeavored to make a component of this kind in an attempt to simplify the process for customers using their eeWings cranks. Using the new 8-bolt interface, these CNC-machined chainrings are offered in a variety of tooth sizes and offsets to suit modern 1x chain lines. Available in a 0 or 3mm offset, the 7075 aluminum chainrings feature a range of sizes applicable for both mountain and gravel riding. While the 0mm offset has just two tooth sizes, 30 and 32T, the 3mm offset has a full range of 30 to 44T chainrings.
Per Cane Creek, their new chainrings use a universal tooth profile that allows the component to work with both SRAM Eagle and T-Type (12 and 13-speed) systems, as well as Shimano Linkglide and Hyperglide+ (11 and 12-speed) chains. When paired with their eeWings All Road, Cane Creek says the 3mm offset chainring produces a 47mm chainline consistent with that of SRAM and Shimano gravel groupsets. The 0mm offset can produce a 52mm or 55mm chainline when paired with the mountain version of the eeWings cranks. These new chainrings are currently offered in black only and weigh in at a meager 58 grams for the 30T ring and 106 grams for the 40T. The chainrings are available now through their website and retail at $100 (as a reminder, Bikepacking Collective members can save 25% on everything from Cane Creek and have access to discounts from around 70 brands!).
