An extended period of recovering from injuries delayed their initial plans and put them well into winter, but Till Schenk and Annika Vossen were eager to get out on a European road trip with bikes and skis despite the conditions being well outside their comfort zone. Not wanting to push the trip back any further, they left the sun-soaked Spanish coast and made their way to France to begin the journey, throughout which they’d pedal up a handful of iconic climbs and ski tour among the peaks once the road ended, ultimately arriving in the Austrian mountains near beautiful Salzburg.
With the help of their van as a mobile basecap, their trip took them over four mountain passes across five countries throughout nine days. Things rarely went to plan along the way, and they had to make significant changes to their route five times due to severe snowstorms. Till and Annika say it was worth all the effort in the end, adding, “Sometimes, the dumbest ideas lead to the most memorable adventures.” You can watch the full video documenting their trip above.
