Collective Reward #199: MSR Hubba Hubba Bikepack Tent

The MSR Hubba Hubba Bikepack tents take the brand’s popular Hubba Hubba series and add several features that make them better-suited for bikepackers, including a handlebar bag/stuff sack, short pole segments, and a stealthy dark green fly. The MSR Hubba Hubba Bikepack tents use the same symmetrical pole structure as the standard version, with two small Ys at each end with a horizontal canopy pole to increase the usable internal space. The MSR Hubba Hubba Bikepack Tent comes in one- and two-person versions, and both include interior and optional exterior clotheslines for drying out stinky socks after a long day on the bike. The tent comes with a waterproof top-opening handlebar bag with removable rubber bar spacers, super short 12.25” (31cm) poles, and a separate pole stuff sack that attaches to the outside of the bar bag. Both versions have a true rectangular floor and don’t taper toward the feet like most lightweight tents, which leaves room for one or two wide sleeping pads, depending on the model.

We reviewed both versions of the Hubba Hubba Bikepack Tent, and Neil and Miles agreed that the packable design, short poles, and surplus of interior pockets and clotheslines were great features for bikepackers. The rectangular floorplan and near-vertical walls mean there’s lots of room to move around inside the tent, and the top-opening handlebar bag is among the best we’ve seen for bikepacking-specific tents.
