Since launching the Scrambler in June of 2020, Stooge Cycles has been on a tear, releasing several new bikes and adding meaningful upgrades to their original lineup. I’m now the proud owner of three Stooges, whimsically. And although I’m quite fond of each one for its own particular qualities, my favorite is hands down the Stooge Dirt Tracker. For those of you who haven’t yet read my review of this bike, the Dirt Tracker has an interesting origin story, inspired by Britain’s post-war, utility bikes that were hand-modified with gas-pipe cowhorn bars, fork trusses, and the fattest tires available to race on makeshift dirt courses.

These grassroots “dirt trackers” were just as much a part of the historical timeline of modern mountain biking as the American klunkers—separate scenes with the same DIY spirit and youthful ingenuity. That heritage resurfaced when Stooge Cycles’ Andy Stevenson—drawing on his late father’s sepia-tinted tracker photos and a deep love of UK bike lore—introduced the Stooge Dirt Tracker, reviving a forgotten strand in off-road cycling’s family tree.
