The COROS APEX 4 is a new activity watch from the Chinese brand that is said to be ideal for mountain running, climbing, cycling, and a variety of other outdoor activities. With two watch sizes that vary slightly in battery life, the COROS APEX 4 is projected to have 65 hours of endurance tracking life, with that GPS tracking time reduced to 53 hours in a higher frequency mode. With turn by turn navigation, global topographic maps, street and trail names, and sport-specific software, the APEX 4 looks to have everything one might need out of multi-sport activity tracker.
From a data standpoint, the APEX 4 tracks all of the typical metrics. Optical heart rate, blood oxygen levels, ECG for HRV calculations, as well as general sleep tracking all feature as part of its native tracking data. Built with sapphire glass and a titanium bezel, the APEX 4 is made to stand up to some pretty harsh conditions as well. With two options weighing in at 52 and 45 grams, the two models of the COROS APEX 4 retail for $479 and $429 each.
Though it’s largely mountain running centric, legendary athlete Killian Journet has been using the APEX 4 during his States of Elevation series, an athletic feat that looks to tie together 56 summits in just 16 days. It’s an amazing accomplishment and one that shows the versatility of use for the APEX 4 as a multi-sport watch.
