Clotaire Mandel recently rode the locally famous Cowichan 8 Loop on Vancouver island over three days and two nights, from Victoria back to Victoria. Watch the video from the ride, see a few photos, and learn more about the route here…
The Cowichan Valley 8 is a 190-kilometer figure-eight bikepacking loop that starts and ends at the parliament buildings in downtown Victoria, British Columbia. This hidden gem traces various regional trails such as the Galloping Goose Trail, Sooke Wilderness Trail, and The Great Trail, and mixes in a blend of gravel and doubletrack to stitch together a fulfilling weekend ride. The route has become popular since we published it in 2020 and has attracted riders from near and far. Clotaire works at the MEC outdoor retail store in Victoria and often recommends this route to beginner riders based on its accessibility from the city. In fact, Clotaire made this video to help promote it and showcase a very accessible local loop. Thanks for sharing, Clotaire!
