The new Curve GMX+ Steel is a versatile adventure bike based around a Columbus Cromor and 4130 chromoly frame, a brand new Seek 430 FM carbon fork, enough mounting points to make you dizzy, and clearance for 29×3.0″ tires. Learn more about it here…

Remember the Curve GMX+ Steel we gave away as a Collective Reward in 2021? Well, Curve has finally launched it to the public, and it’s available now. The GMX+ Steel builds on the platform of the original titanium version but swaps out the space metal frame for Columbus Cromor and 4130 Chromoly tubing, making it durable, comfortable, and more affordable than titanium. According to Curve, it’s “an adventure bike inspired by overlanders,” and it includes all the provisions and features you’d expect from a bike designed to go far from home.

The Curve GMX+ Steel shares many of the same specs as the titanium model. The frame has mounting points on the rear stays and offset mounts on the downtube, allowing the use of a full-sized frame bag and bottles mounted on either side of the downtube. It has standard bottle mounts, top tube mounts, front and rear rack mounts, and the totally redesigned carbon fork has quad-pack mounts for even more cargo.

The Seek 430 FM fork is a carbon utility fork with four heavily reinforced M5 mounting points on either side, rated for a whopping 7 kilograms (15 pounds) per side when using three bosses. Curve achieved this by ditching the industry-standard rivnuts and instead developed their own unique thru-mounts, completely re-thinking the way the mounts are added to the fork blades. I checked out the fork out in person a few weeks ago, and it’s a pretty clever way to make an extra strong cargo fork. The fork also has updated dynamo and brake routing and reintroduces flat mount brakes.

The Curve GMX+ Steel can accommodate a drop-bar or flat-bar setup, including Curve’s Remlaw Bar, and it features modern specs like boost thru-axles, clearance for 29 x 3.0″ tires, and six frame sizes from XS to XL. It’s currently being offered in a bold Pink Roadhouse colorway or a slightly more subdued Nitro Chocolate as a frameset or a complete build.

The complete build is based around SRAM Rival-Eagle eTap AXS 1×12 with a massive 10-52T cassette, Curve Dirt Hoops Alloy wheels, a dynamo hub, Curve Walmer Bars, and Mezcal 29 x 2.6″ or Ranger 27.5 x 3.0″, depending on your frame size. The complete build is listed for $6,649 AUD (~$4,300 USD) which looks like a pretty dialed package for the price. The frameset (frame + fork) will set you back $2,499 AUD (~$1,600 USD).
