As Curve puts it, the Kevin of Steel is “a reliable, versatile, heat-treated chromoly steel gravel bike built for real adventures, long rides, rough roads, bikepacking, commuting, and whatever else you define as gravel this week.” Lucas tested the original version a few years ago and praised its versatility and useful cargo fork. The Kevin of Steel hasn’t been available for a minute, but we’re excited to hear that Curve is bringing it back.

The new Curve Kevin of Steel 4 keeps the same spirit as the previous version but has been updated to follow the geometry of the GXR4. According to Curve, that means more tire clearance (29 x 2.2” out back and 29 x 2.4″ up front), improved handling, and a higher front end on the larger sizes. It’s available in seven frame sizes (XXS to XXL), the seat tube now has a dropper post port, and it uses a single-sided yoke to reduce weight while retaining stiffness through the bottom bracket area.

The Kevin of Steel 4 has more mounts than ever before, including rear rack mounts, fender mounts, top tube mounts, and five bottle mounts, including the offset down tube mounts popularized on the GMX+. The offset and underside down tube mounts let riders run three bottles while still using a full-size frame bag, even on smaller frame sizes. It’s paired with Curve’s Ride 415 VGM fork, which has extra-strong three-pack mounts that can carry up to 17 pounds (8 kilograms) per fork leg. The Kevin of Steel 4 now uses a SRAM UDH rear dropout and maintains external cable routing for easier maintenance.

The Kevin of Steel 4 is available for pre-order today and requires a 50% deposit, with the rest due on arrival. Framesets are scheduled to arrive in early 2027 and include the Kevin of Steel 4 frame, Ride 415 VGM Fork, axles, hanger, headset, cable guides, and a seatpost clamp. To pre-order, email sales@curvecycling.com. Curve doesn’t specify the price online, but the previous version cost $2,399 AUD (~$1,600 USD), so we expect it to be somewhere around that price.
