Several trends have emerged from the nearly 400 Readers’ Rigs we’ve shared every Friday for the past seven years, and one we’ve loved seeing is fun, practical bikes built for hauling kids. View them all by exploring our new Dad Bikes tag here…

Reader’s Rig is our weekly showcase of community bikes, featuring everything from ultra-low-budget vintage builds to fully bespoke creations. We’ve loved seeing various themes and trends pop up since we started sharing them in early 2019, and the series is a favorite among our team. One style of bike that’s been hiding in plain sight is those designed to haul kids while having a little fun along the way.

To date, nearly a dozen dads have shared their bikes, with more on the way. We just added a #dad-bikes tag to make it easier to find them all in one place, which you can browse here. The new tag nicely complements our deep well of family bikepacking content, which features dozens of posts, including guides, stories, videos, essays, and more. If you have a kid-carrier to share, we hope you’ll submit it as a Reader’s Rig using the form below!

Send Us Your Bikepacking Rig

Use the form below to submit your bikepacking rig. We’ll choose one per week to feature in a Reader’s Rig Dispatch and on Instagram. To enter, email us your best photo of the bike (preferably at a 90° angle), your Instagram username (optional), and a short description of you and your rig. If your bike is selected, we’ll need a total of five photos and a little bit more info.
