The latest custom build out of R+E Cycles in Seattle is a classic from the small but mighty framebuilding shop. An S&S coupled, 650B, carbon fork ripper, Dustin Klein’s latest custom bike is banana boat yellow and almost as eclectic as its owner. The accompanying YouTube video offers some good insights as to why and how a custom build comes together. From explanations about tubing profiles to specific components decisions, it’s a deep dive into a deeply personal build.

Having covered R+E Cycles myself, I’m always impressed with what their small shop can realize. From the research and development Alder does on his on equipment to the picture-perfect builds they always seem to be pushing out, it’s nice to see a storied shop continue to evolve with the times. Dustin also does a solid job at documenting the process and the “why” behind the bike in his unique, shot-heavy vlog-style.
