New from Blue Lug in Japan is the Fairweather Handlebar Bag ADV, a Carradice-style saddle bag with all kinds of adjustment and storage capacity. With six colors, loads of pockets, and a detachable front flap, this might just be the saddle bag to rule them all…
The new Fairweather Handlebar Bag ADV from Blue Lug is the latest iteration of their Carradice-style saddle bag featuring a detachable flap closure, straps to expand its capacity, and a removable liner. Taking additions and features from some of their other bags, this model has all kinds of adjustments and extra storage for when the road gets rough and the load gets heavy.

Made of Cordura nylon fabric, the Fairweather handlebar bag ADV is 8.5″ long, (15″ with the roll-top extended), 16.5″ wide, and 8.5″ deep. With a storage capacity of 19L, this relatively large saddle bag is a reasonably priced at $159 USD. Running the new Fairweather bag will require 7-10″ of clearance between the handlebar and a rack, and those using it without a support or rack system will need roughly 10″ of clearance between the bottom of the bag and the tire.
Perhaps the most intriguing feature here is the detachable flap closure. It makes what’s an already tried and tested design into a more versatile one. Cam from the GenoSack crew has been testing one for BlueLug to great effect, as he turned it into a DIY basket bag with his cute little dog up front. The addition of the daisy chains across the front opens up options, as users could attach all sorts of equipment to the front, even after the main and side pockets are filled to the brim.
Editor’s Note: This bag is still in testing and will release later this year. the current version includes the listed specs but does not feature the detachable top flap.
