As cyclists demand more from their drop bar gravel bikes, the tendency is to outfit them with bigger tires, wider bars, and a dropper post to increase comfort and overall versatility. With a massive influx of big tire monstercross bikes over the last few years, it’s no surprise to see new components being developed specifically with these types of bikes in mind. Announced this morning, the new Easton EA70 AX Gravel Dropper Post is a prime example.
The Easton EA70 AX Gravel Dropper Post, as the name suggests, is designed with drop bar bikes in mind. It uses a a reliable cartridge design, internal routing, and is available in two different lengths: 350mm and 400mm. The post provides 50mm of drop, which should make it compatible with most bikes, as long as the frame requires a 27.2mm diameter post. Watch Easton’s product launch video below, followed by some additional specs.
- Can be paired with drop bar optimized levers or drop bar compatible shifters.
- Cable attaches from either direction for compatibility with all dropper levers.
- Two lengths for better fitment on dropped top-tube gravel bike frame designs.
- 27.2 mm diameter.
- 50mm drop.
- 350mm or 400mm length options.
- 0mm offset head.
- Weight: 400g (350mm)
- Price: $184.99 USD
Easton also let us know that they’ll be releasing a new dropper lever this winter, and from what we can gather it will be optimized for drop bar use and will allow use from both the drops and the hoods… maybe. Stay tuned for more details on that.
