London’s Fairlight Cycles designs some of the most carefully considered production frames on the market, and they just teased the updated third iteration of their lauded steel Faran. Take a peek at the new Fairlight Faran 3.0 frameset here…
The Faran is Fairlight Cycles’ lowest-priced yet likely most broadly capable frameset. That’s saying something, considering how exceptionally well-designed and versatile their small but mighty four-model range is. We know the all-road, utility-forward Faran well around here, as Logan reviewed the Faran 2.0, and I ended up buying one and riding it all over Germany, England, and France. It remains a favorite bike I’ve ever pedaled, and it’s one I recommend often. In the time since Logan and I built ours, Fairlight introduced the Fairlight 2.5, which we further extended its aptitude with increased tire clearance, a heat-treated rear triangle, and Fairlight x Bentley Mk II dropouts. Thanks to co-founder Dom Thomas and the team at Fairlight, we gave away a frameset as a Collective Reward last year, and you can see winner Max’s Faran 2.5 all built up here.

Announced on Instagram earlier this week, Fairlight is back with a third-generation Faran that sports an impressive array of updates. Long in the works, the new Faran 3.0 benefits from the extensive development work that went into the brand’s Strael 4.0 and Secan 3.0 framesets. Some of the most notable updates include a fresh Faran 3.0 fork with revised boss and braze-on placement and a fender plate integrated into the base of the crown; clearance for even bigger tires up to 700C x 53mm or 650B x 62mm; a Reynolds 725 front triangle with custom butting profiles; a Reynolds 725 DZB downtube and a new 28.6mm top tube that’s ovalized to 25 × 32mm for increased stability when carrying a front load; a rear triangle with heavily curved and flattened stays to maximize compliance (as seen on the Secan 3.0); dropper compatibility for 1x setups; Fairlight x Bentley Mk III dropouts with a modular cable stop and direct mount, standard hanger, and T-Type inserts; small tweaks to the chainstay length, stack, and reach; and much more.
As with everything from Fairlight, the details in the new Fairlight 3.0 take some time to fully unpack and absorb. To that end, it’s accompanied by another impressive Design Notes book spanning nearly 170 pages. You can flip through it here for a deep dive into the frameset and its many features and design decisions.
The product page for the Faran 3.0 isn’t live yet, but we expect the deposit page to open soon, followed by the frameset and full build lookbooks. We heard from Fairlight that they won’t be raising the price for the new model, which remains at £999 for buyers in the UK and for folks elsewhere £832.50 ($1,111), offering an exceptional value. The Faran 3.0 will be offered in a full range of regular and tall sizes in Moss, Black, and Burnt Orange. Head over to FairlightCycles.com to learn more about the brand and their bikes.
