Taking much of its inspiration from the event known as French Fender Day by famed American frame builder Peter Weigle, Thomas Becker of Meerglas Frameworks in Groß Lüben, Germany, set out to create an equally enthralling gathering of fender-ed bicycles. With the inaugural edition of Becker’s Fenderfest taking place last year, Fenderfest 2025 promises the three days of joyous celebration for fender fanatics.

For the uninitiated, while the explicit purpose of Fenderfest—as the name suggests—centers around displaying bikes with fenders fitted to them, the larger concept behind Fenderfest is, as Hélène Fromenty wrote in her excellent coverage of the event last year, that a “mudguard isn’t just an accessory that goes over a tire; it’s an enduring symbol of century-old craftsmanship and philosophy.”

Complete with a flea market, music festival, camping, and fender-oriented award show, this fender-centric festival seems like the kind of event bike spaces have missed in a post-COVID world. Set in idyllic Brandenburg, the state surrounding Berlin, Fenderfest 2025 will start on May 30th and wrap up with some group rides on June 1st. Tickets and registration for camping onsite come out to €50, which must be paid in advance. If you find yourself in the area in early summer, I’d suggest taking these fender-ed beauties in!
