Long in the works, the talented team at Gramm Tourpacking finally unveiled the all-new Gramm Grill Bag, an innovative, easy-to-mount front bag designed to pair with the Allygn Grill Rack. Find details and photos on the Berlin brand’s new high-volume rando bag here…
Featuring the same innovative “origami” folding lid found on the original Gramm Diamond Bag, which both Josh and I recognized in our Editor’s Dozen roundups last year (find those linked at the bottom of this post), the all-new Gramm Grill Bag boasts an expanded 12-liter capacity that further optimizes it for bikepacking and long-distance pedaling—something Gramm founder Kristin Heil, a regular brevet rider herself, knows well.
Built to pair perfectly with the Allygn Grill Rack (as highlighted in my 2021 Editor’s Dozen, also linked below) and compatible with a range of porteur-style front racks, the Gramm Grill Bag is uniquely easy to mount and remove and boasts an angular design that reduces interference with drop bar-shifters compared to typical front-hauling setups. It’s made of X-Pac RX36 Black (100% post-consumer recycled polyester) or ECOPAK Ultra X 200 Black Magic fabric, weighing 820 or 735 grams, respectively. The Grill Bag measures 190-220mm wide, 290-300mm high, and 210mm deep.
Unlike traditional rando bags, no decaleur is needed to attach the Grill Bag. A 20mm wide webbing strap with a Fidlock buckle secures the rear of the bag to the rack’s tombstone, and a 70mm wide Hypalon strap with velcro closure snugs down the front, making for a super stable fit that can be removed in seconds. An included shoulder strap helps make it equally at home off the bike. Inside, the Grill Bag features a light-colored ECOPAK 200 Silver Bullet liner that makes contents easier to spot, and two mesh inner compartments add a little organization. A tough hypalon base helps ensure long-term durability. Josh has been testing a prototype version for more than a year now—which you may have spotted here on the site—and has only positive feedback about its user-friendliness and how it has held up to long-term use.
Gramm Grill Bags are handcrafted in small batches in Portugal, and they are in stock and ready to ship now. Prices are €269 (X-Pac) or €289 (ECOPAK Ultra) for the bag alone and €409 (X-Pac) or €429 (ECOPAK Ultra) when paired with the Allygn Grill Rack.
