After years of resisting the urge to make a hydration hip pack, Bellingham, Washington’s High Above finally set out to make a better option, complete with a 1.5L bladder and a design suitable for big days out. Learn more about the new High Above Cascadia 4L here…

The idea for High Above’s latest hip pack started with a conversation two years ago with a rider on a small frame with limited capacity who wanted more water than her existing packs could carry. The Cascadia is High Above’s first hip pack designed around a water bladder, and they say it doesn’t bounce, sag, shift, or put too much pressure on your waist, even on long rides.

The Cascadia has foam-reinforced hip and back panels, an integrated bungee carry system, internal organization, and High Above’s signature high-visibility orange accents. Inside, you’ll find a large zippered pocket with a key clip and two reinforced stretch pockets for tools, snacks, and ride essentials.

The pack itself is made from their new proprietary M200 Molecular fabric, a woven blend of ultra-high-molecular-weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) and nylon. According to High Above, the fabric is roughly 40% lighter and four times as abrasion-resistant as the 400D nylon pack cloth they’ve used for years. The main waist belt is secured with a magnetic buckle from Cinch Designs, which they’ve found to be more durable, intuitive, and easier to use with gloves on.
