Horse Cycles in New York just partnered with RatKing Frames in Seattle on a stunning titanium knife called the Titanium Pack Knife. It’s made from the same robust grade 5 titanium used in bicycle frames and aerospace and CNC machined one at a time in Washington before returning to Horse Cycles, where the final edge is added before a quality check.

The Horse Cycles Titanium Pack Knife weighs just 27 grams (0.95 ounces) and has a 6.5″ total length with a 2.75″ blade. It’s just 0.125″ thick, and Horse Cycles offers an optional sheath with a belt clip that uses the same bolt spacing as a bottle cage, so it can be mounted to a frame or fork.

Here’s what Thomas Callahan of Horse Cycles had to say about the process of making the Titanium Pack Knife with Smith from RatKing: “I’ve only met Smith one time, but we’ve been chatting back and forth for the past few years—just kind of supporting each other as frame builders, navigating the industry, business, design, etc. I just think he’s an amazing guy and an amazing person and so super talented. Those are the kind of people I wanna work with. So, for the past four months, we’ve been testing different prototypes, with different geometries designs material. The testing on this grade 5 titanium is incredible. The parts get cut and sent to me out of eight-inch grade 5 titanium. I prep the blanks and then send them to Smith at RatKing. He machines them on his CNC and then runs a deeper process. Then ships them back to me. I then grind the final secondary bevel, sharpen and strop/polish, make the sheathes, and tie the lanyard.”
