Mads Hulsrøj Jæger, the Danish framebuilder behind Hulsroy Cycles, recently released a sleek side-loading stainless steel bottle cage, which he makes by hand. Find an overview of the well-crafted accessory and a soothing video on how it’s made here…
Mads Hulsrøj Jæger is an architect turned framebuilder and passionate educator from Aarhus, Denmark. Since we shared his steel cargo bike as a Reader’s Rig around two years ago, he’s gone full-time on framebuilding as Hulsroy Cycles and showed two stunning custom hardtails at Bespoked Dresden in 2023. Gracing his frames was one of his subtler creations: the Hulsroy Bottle Cage. It’s a sleek side-loader that’s made by hand and silver-brazed with stainless steel.
As a true side-loader that makes optimal use of available frame triangle space, the Hulsroy Bottle Cage is available in variations for left or right access, and there’s also a symmetrical version for extra flair. Unlike aluminum, steel can be bent without fatiguing, so you can bend the cage for stronger bottle retention or if it takes a hit. One cage weighs 72 grams.
Aligned with his credo to transparently design, build, and share, Mads just released a video that shows the making of a bottle cage from beginning to end. The relaxing visuals are accompanied by an atmospheric soundscape from his workshop. Watch it here:
The Hulsroy Bottle Cage costs €40 and is available now at HulsroyCycles.com.
