Industry Nine has expanded its wheel and hub offerings with its new SOLiX collection, featuring two distinct hub and spoke configurations for road, gravel, and everything in between. Dig into the Industry Nine SOLiX lineup here…
North Carolina-based component manufacturer Industry Nine is launching a new range of wheels and hubs today that look promising for drop-bar (and skinny-tired flat-bar) adventures. The Industry Nine SOLiX collection is offered in two distinct hubs and spoke configurations, tailored for specific riders and terrain: SOLiX SL and SOLiX G. Watch the launch video and then scroll down for details on both wheelsets and the SOLiX hubs.
Industry Nine SOLiX SL + AR40 Rims
The SOLiX SL collection is optimized as a lightweight road and gravel wheelset focused on minimizing drag. It is built around a 24-spoke rim, a minimal hub with 605 points of engagement (0.59°), 12 x 100mm/142mm axles, and a full range of profiles to match climbing, aero, or mixed-terrain applications. Complete wheelsets start at $1,295 (alloy) or $2,295 USD (carbon).
The all-new SOLiX AR40 wheels feature a 25mm internal width and a 35mm external width. They claim this IW is best suited to 30-42mm tires based on aerodynamics, but that sounds quite low from our experience. Most of us on the team agree that a 25mm IW is about right for 38mm to 2.0″ tires, although it wasn’t long ago that folks were comfortably running ever larger tires on 25mm IW rims. Regardless, their hooked rim permits higher pressures, reduces blowoff risk, and allows for a lower bead wall height, which Industry Nine claims reduces the risk of pinch flats.
Industry Nine SOLiX G
The “G” in SOLiX G stands for gravel, and they are the most adventure-worthy range in the launch. They use 24 straight-pull aluminum spokes that thread directly into a low-profile hub flange, and the hubs and spokes are available in 11 anodized colors, allowing for all kinds of unique configurations using their custom wheel designer. Two internal width options are available: 25mm or 21.5mm, in both alloy and carbon. Wheelsets start at just 1,320 grams and cost $1,405 (alloy) or $2,395 USD (carbon) for a complete set.
Industry Nine SOLiX Hubs
A brand new hub design is at the heart of the new SOLiX collection. The five-pawl freehub integrates with a 121-tooth drive ring with 605 contact points, translating to an ultra-fine 0.59° engagement. They come in two spoke hole counts, 24 or 28, 12mm axles front and back, and come with your choice from four freehub bodies: SRAM XD-R, Shimano HG, Shimano MS-R, and Campagnolo N3W. A front hub weighs 110 grams, and the rear weighs 223 grams. The SOLiX Hubs cost $695 USD for a pair.
