Have you picked up a vintage mountain bike with a 1″ steerer recently and you’re looking to run a modern stem and handlebar to dial in the fit? The Innicycle 1″ Threaded to 1-1/8″ Threadless Conversion Headset might just be the cleanest way to make it happen. Learn more here…

Got plans to restore a rad vintage Specialized Hard Rock this winter? Perhaps you’ve always had an old steel bike but getting the right fit has been next to impossible? Well, the ForkMods Innicycle 1″ Threaded to 1-1/8″ Threadless Conversion Headset takes an old threaded steerer tube and converts it to a modern 1 1/8″ threadless standard—opening up the options for running different stems and bars. Although basic threadless adapters exist, the Innicycle version is much more aesthetically pleasing, weighs less, and is said to be stiffer as well.

The cool thing about Innicycle’s conversion headset is that it replaces the entire threaded headset, and once installed, functions much like a modern threadless headset. The installation does require some proper shop tools, so if you’re thinking about picking one up, it might be best to head to your local bike shop for the install. The conversion headset costs $199 AUD (~$140 USD), which, granted, might cost more than the bike you’re installing it on. It’s available in either a black or clear anodized finish. Watch a very detailed installation video from Rob Garrison, owner of Garrison’s Cyclery in Wilmington, Delaware, below.
