A huge congratulations goes out to 25-year-old James Dunaway (Dahlonega, GA) who was first to finish the 2019 Trans North Georgia Adventure (TNGA) early this morning with a time of 45 hours and 52 minutes. The previous record was set by Kurt Refsnider last year, who finished in 50 hours and 30 minutes. James, along side his riding partner Ethan Burns, was also the first to complete a through-ride of the 1,300-mile Southern Highlands Traverse last summer, which you can read about here.

The TNGA is a 350 mile (560 KM) route that snakes through the southern Appalachian mountains from South Carolina to Alabama. The climbs are endless, the terrain is challenging, and this year participants were also challenged with very hot and humid weather, which played a part in a huge number of riders scratching from the event. Brian Toone (Birmingham, AL) is on his way to finish in second place shortly, and Daniel Jordan (Burlington, VT) follows close behind. Sara Dallman (Wilmington, OH) is setting herself up to be the first female finisher for 2019.
