Roads & Trails to the Tour Divide: kLite Dynamo Setup (Video)

In one of the final installments of his Tour Divide preparation series dubbed “Roads & Trails to the Tour Divide,” Justin walks us through his lighting setup. Featuring an adventure-specific light from kLite, Justin’s experience as someone who has taken to the trail with and without dynamo systems provides a solid perspective on whether potential riders might want to run one themselves.

Justin also shows us his process of mounting both the light and the switch system that diverts power to the charger. While specifics like that might seem minor, they’re details that end up being crucial to how well a setup functions. Talking through the pros, cons, and dynamics of each mounting and lighting choice, it’s clear that Justin’s experience with these devices is considered and derived from a lot of time with them.

Though Justin calls the lighting system more of a “comfort” than a need, given he’s taken to the Tour Divide without a self-powered lighting system, it seems a piece of equipment worth its weight in gold when looking at the mountain of logistics tied to riding the route. Simplifying your means of seeing and being seen while also adding some ease of recharging electronic devices seems like a no-brainer. What do you think?
